Preview of what is being skipped:
The outbreak of sickness brings public attention to the state of the school. The public learns of the unhealthy nature of and around the school and this causes an uproar among the people. The school gets new patrons and the school is fixed up and made better.
Then it skips 8 years so, Jane is now 18 years old.
Jane starts teaching at the school as she was one of the smartest in her group. Miss Temple gets married and leaves the school.
Back to the “present time” in the story.
Jane wants a change in her life and wants to see more than just the school and local town. So, Jane starts looking for a new job.
She finds a job as a governess to a young girl and that pays double what the school pays her.
The day before she leaves to travel to her new job, Bessie shows up.
Bessie is now married with two children and still works at Gateshead.
They catch up on what has happened since Jane left and she finds out what has become of her “family.”
Jane is better off than her cousins could ever hope to be. The state of her cousin’s compared to Jane makes me very happy.
Jane shows Bessie some of her accomplishments and Bessie seems to be proud of what she can do. She kind of says that it is the best she could have hoped for.
The next day they go their different ways. Bessie, going back to Gateshead, and Jane to her new job.

Many hours later, Jane finally arrives at her new home.
She meets Mrs. Fairfax who is exceedingly kind to her right off the bat. She seems like the sweetest old lady who feels like your grandma.
After Jane is warmed up by the fire, Mrs. Fairfax take Jane to her living quarters. The room given to Jane are modest and comfortable instead of one of the stately rooms.
The next day, Jane is up and about early in the morning exploring her new home.
Later on, Jane meets Miss Adèle Varen. She is to be Jane’s student and only appears to be eight years old.
Adèle is a pretty young girl with ringlet’s in her hair and grew up in France.
During breakfast, Jane learns more about Adèle and what she can do. She tells Jane of how she would entertain guest and when asked to show Jane, she gladly does so.
She seems like such a cute girl and she is very sweet to everyone, if a little cheeky with her answers.
After breakfast is finished, they go to the library to begin Adèle’s schooling. As she is not used to the long hours of study, Jane only does a half day to help ease her into a routine.
Later, Jane meets up with Mrs. Fairfax and starts to ask questions about the master of the house. Said master of the house is rarely home and is called Mr. Rochester. Jane tries to get information about the type of man he is as she is curious about who she is working for.
She does not get much information from Mrs. Fairfax.
Mrs. Fairfax proceeds to give Jane a tour of the grand estate.
The place sounds very pretty to me and very fancy. I would not want to touch much of the things in the house for fear of breaking something or messing something up.
